September has always belonged to me. It’s my birthday month, and every year I decide exactly what I want from it.
This year, I’ve attached a six-figure target to it.
A number like that won’t be reached through habit or the occasional send made when someone happens to remember. It takes consistency. It takes men deciding that my birthday deserves more than a last-minute message and acting accordingly.
No single person is expected to carry the whole month. That isn’t how this works. The total will come from standing arrangements, regular senders, birthday tributes, unexpected gifts and a few men finally making the larger contribution they’ve been considering for weeks.
If you’re waiting for the perfect moment, stop. My birthday month is already here. There is only the moment when you decide to send—and the time you waste before doing it.
September is a good month for a goal like this. Summer is over. Routines return. So does discipline. August allowed room for excuses, distractions and delays. September does not.
A six-figure birthday target also makes one thing very clear: the difference between men who enjoy the idea of contributing and men who actually make themselves useful.
Anyone can send an amount that barely registers and call it devotion. It takes something more deliberate to look at the target, consider your own circumstances and decide what your share should be. I notice the difference. I always do.
I won’t spend my birthday month anxiously refreshing a total or chasing men who already know what is expected of them. My role is to set the standard and enjoy watching the month take shape around me. Your role is much simpler.
Contribute.
Not eventually. Not when you feel especially inspired. Not after watching everyone else do the work first—and certainly not in a rushed tribute once my birthday is almost over.
September has already begun, and the number is waiting.
Every day you delay leaves more of the gap for someone else to close. Perhaps someone else will. The total does not depend on any one man. But by the end of my birthday month, it will be obvious who helped me reach it and who merely stood at the edge watching.
September belongs to me. It always has.
The only question is whether your name will be part of the reason this one is worth remembering.
